Two months from today, we’ll gather at the Royal Sonesta in Cambridge, Massachusetts for the Schweitzer Leadership Conference: Building Healthier Communities & Leading by Example.
Our slate of speakers is a veritable who’s-who of community health movers and shakers that includes Adewale Troutman, MD, MPH, MA, CPH (President-Elect, American Public Health Association), Sanjiv Chopra, MD, MACP (Author, Leadership by Example), Donald L. Weaver, MD (Chief Medical Officer, National Association of Community Health Centers), and Donna Latson Gittens (Founder and Principal, MORE Advertising, a causemedia company)—as well as Rushika Fernandopulle, MD, MPP, whose innovative work with Iora Health we blogged about last week.
“This conference is an unparalleled professional development and networking opportunity for emerging and established health professionals,” says our Executive Director, Sylvia Stevens-Edouard, MS. “It’s a chance for them to learn directly from leaders who are shaping the way we think, talk, and act when it comes to health equity, health care, social change, and public policy.”
The conference begins Friday, Nov. 2 with a VIP ceremony honoring the 2012 recipient of the Albert Schweitzer Prize for Humanitarianism: James (Jim) O’Connell, MD, Founder and President of Boston Health Care for the Homeless and a leading international expert in and advocate for health care for homeless populations.
Conference programming continues on Saturday, Nov. 3 with sessions that will equip participants with new strategies and skills for effective leadership in today’s particular social, economic, technological, and political environment.
“We’re offering special registration rates for students and members, and we encourage interested attendees to register soon to reserve their spots,” Stevens-Edouard says.
