Thanks to the Pittsburgh Foundation’s Day of Giving and a simultaneous match challenge by the Pittsburgh Schweitzer Fellows Program Advisory Board, donations to the Pittsburgh Schweitzer Fellows Program on October 3—Match Day—will be more than doubled.
To participate, go to www.pittsburghgives.org on Wednesday, October 3. The “Donate Now” link will appear on the front page starting at midnight; select “Albert Schweitzer Fellowship, Inc. – Pittsburgh Schweitzer Fellows Program” in the drop-down list to make your gift via MasterCard or Visa.
“Here in southwest Pennsylvania, our new class of 23 Fellows representing eight disciplines has launched exciting service projects—working with children with asthma, refugees, seniors, LGBT people, and other underserved groups to improve their health and lives,” says Joan Haley, Program Director, Pittsburgh Schweitzer Fellows Program. “The generosity of the Pittsburgh Foundation and our advisory board means that on Match Day, new donations for the efforts of these emerging professionals who do so much to improve our community will be magnified.”
Haley encourages program alumni (Fellows for Life) and supporters both new and old to take advantage of this opportunity to leverage their gift.
“This program’s impact is truly far-reaching,” Haley adds. “Last year’s class of 21 Fellows carried service projects that touched 6,230 residents in our area. And although very few of the Fellows over the 15 years of our existence have come from southwest Pennsylvania, nearly fifty percent each year stay in our region to launch their professions or further their careers.”
