The New Orleans Schweitzer Fellows Program is excitedly gearing up for its first collaboration with Whole Foods Arabella Station. The organic grocer is hosting a “First Thursday” fundraiser to benefit our New Orleans chapter on Oct. 23 from 5 – 7 p.m. Proceeds from the event will be used to fund Fellows’ service projects, which effectively means the money is going right back into the communities of New Orleans.
There will be beer and wine, and, of course, plenty of delicious and nutritious food at seven demo stations around the store. Each of the stations will be paired with up with a Fellow chosen by the station leader and will create a food demo based upon that Fellow’s project. We can hardly wait to see (and taste!) how our work translates to grills, skillets, skewers, stew pots and pie plates.
Our New Orleans Fellows are selling wrist bands for the fundraiser for a suggested donation of $5 each. Wrist-bands give wearers gets access to station demos and beer and wine. The Fellow that hawks the most wrist-bands wins a $100 Whole Foods Gift Card. That’s a pretty enticing (organic) carrot.
The Arabella Station store is located in an old streetcar barn at 5600 Magazine St. If you’re in the area, come join us for food and “Fellowship”!
