Linda Keefe and Jessica Lahey have much to share about ensuring our children are happy, healthy, and productive.
Linda is the executive director and co-founder of the Fitzgerald Youth Sports Initiative, a non-profit that puts “cleats on the ground”—trained organizers, that is—in under-resourced communities to provide equal access for children to activities that keep them active, safe, engaged, and healthy. Jessica is a middle school teacher and keen ’tween observer who writes about education and parenting issues for the New York Times, The Atlantic and on her blog, Coming of Age in the Middle.
Both are among the distinguished faculty at this year’s Schweitzer Leadership Conference, which takes place on Nov. 2 at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Register now to ensure you don’t miss the chance to engage with these insightful, innovative leaders, both of whom understand that a good education and good health entail more than simply getting good grades and passing the annual physical.
As Linda once said, “When children have an opportunity to come together, to have fun, learn new skills, to experience teamwork, resiliency, empathy, they have a shared experience which is often the basis for lifelong friendships.”
Likewise, in resolving to give her students only quality homework assignments as opposed to simply “busy work,” Jessica observes, “Children need time to be quiet, play, read and imagine. Teachers who sacrifice these vital elements of childhood for anything less than the most valuable homework assignments are being derelict in their duty to their students and the teaching profession.”
They are sure to have many more insights and ideas to share to help you help young people to be their best, whole selves. Act now to join the discussion!
Conference topics include:
- the impact of the implementation of the Affordable Care Act on health equity
