The 2002-2003 Fellows held their third symposium in March 2003 on the topic of âAdolescent Health in Urban America:Â Are We Meeting the Needs of Young People in Our Communities?âÂ The panelists included Cindy Mears, faculty at Northwestern University and an attending physician in adolescent medicine at Childrenâs Memorial Hospital, Greg Lewis, a clinical psychologist in the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Division at Cook County Hospital, and Torrey Wilson, Program Director at Gildaâs Club, Chicago.Â The speakers provided various perspectives on working with adolescents, from advice on the best approach to screening for various health and behavioral conditions, to an overview of mental health services and programs targeted at youth in Illinois, to the issues involved in working primarily with minority youth.
