Registration for the 2016 SPARK! Leadership Conference is now open! Don’t miss your opportunity to learn from strategic and innovative leaders who are shaping discussions and actions around health equity, health care, social change, and public policy.
Whether you’re a Schweitzer Fellow, Fellow for Life, or a member of the broader community of health care professionals, graduate students, and community leaders working to improve the health of vulnerable people, we welcome you to join us on Saturday, Nov. 5 at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel for a day of engaging breakout sessions, discussion, skill-building workshops, and networking.
This year’s SPARK! Leadership Conference features heavyweights in health care: Dr. Edward J. Benz, Jr., president and CEO of the world-renowned Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and Ralph Fuccillo, president of DentaQuest Foundation, a leader in improving access to oral health care for all. They’ll share their experiences in removing barriers to health care during plenary sessions that will inform and inspire. Additionally, Dr. Saul Weiner, a professor at University Illinois College of Medicine and Schweitzer Fellow for Life, will share his expertise and research in his plenary session “Listening for What Matters: Avoiding Contextual Errors in Health Care.”
Breakout Sessions and Skill Building Workshops
We’re thrilled that Fellow for Life Dr. Nahid Bhadelia, the Director of Infection Control at the National Emerging Infectious Disease Laboratory at Boston University, is on our conference faculty. Dr. Bhadelia will discuss her work treating Ebola patients at the height of the epidemic in Sierra Leone in 2014.
Other sessions will address:
- the future of the Affordable Care Act after the election
- cultural humility in health care
- marketing your work for media attention and donor engagement
- designing a community-based project for impact
Connect with hundreds of Schweitzer Fellows and Fellows for Life, policy makers, and leading practitioners. Last year’s speakers and attendees included Drew Altman, PhD, president and CEO of the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation; Dr. Gary Gottlieb, CEO of Partners In Health, a global leader in providing healthcare to the poor; Fellow for Life Rushika Fernandopulle, practicing physician, author, and co-founder/CEO of Iora Health; and independent scholar Patti Marxsen, author of Helene Schweitzer: A Life of Her Own.

We can’t wait to see you on Nov. 5!
