September 13, 2012 - NICHQ Co-Founder Dr. Charles Homer Joins Schweitzer Leadership Conference Lineup

We’re pleased to announce an addition to our Schweitzer Leadership Conference speaker lineup: Dr. Charles Homer, co-founder, president, and CEO of the National Initiative for Children’s Healthcare Quality (NICHQ).

Homer will speak on approaches to addressing childhood obesity, focusing on ways in which community-based teams have successfully deployed the 5-2-1-0 health promotion message:

•    Eat five fruits or vegetables per day,
•    Limit screen time (TVs, computers) to two hours or less per day,
•    Get one hour or more of physical activity per day, and
•    Drink zero sugar-sweetened beverages per day.

Homer co-founded NICHQ—an independent quality improvement organization dedicated to achieving a world in which all children receive the high quality healthcare they need—in 1999. He was a member of the third US Preventive Services Task Force from 2000-2002 and served as chair of the American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on Quality Improvement from 1999-2001. He is a member of the Expert Panel on Performance Measurement reporting to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ Quality and Cost Council.
